Chichibu’s culinary delights

In Chichibu, there is a custom of pickling pork in miso to preserve it. Gradually, this evolved to become the miso-pickled pork of today, which is eaten with piping hot rice as the dish “Butamiso Don”. Aside from this, there is also another B-grade delicacy in the area known as “Chichibu Waraji Katsudon”. It was so named because the pork cutlet is as huge as a straw sandal (Waraji). Try eating two pieces of these pork cutlets dipped in special sauce, together with white rice to savor the symphony of tastes in your mouth. Having a hard time deciding which to get? Rest assured, there are shops that serve “Double-don” combining both Waraji Katsudon and Butamiso-don, giving you two irresistible choices in one bowl. Make some delicious memories of Chichibu.
