All ready to welcome sakura season? You’re not the only one.
Starbucks Japan has already released its annual spring beverages and goods, and they look too good to be true!
Two limited-edition sakura drinks are available from now until 14 March 2017.
The SAKURA Blossom Cream Frappucino with Crispy Swirl (from 570 yen) is made with sakura milk sauce, condensed milk and topped with pink chocolate ‘petals’. Small, round pieces of pink roasted Japanese rice crackers are blended in to provide the crispy element.
Served hot, the SAKURA Blossom Cream Latte (from 430 yen) is said to be creamier and has a more intense sakura flavour. This is because of the rich, maple whipped cream and sakura-flavoured chocolate petals which melt into the drink, making it more robust.
The coffee chain is also offering 40 different original SAKURA frames for customers to decorate their photos with.
All you need to do is scan a QR code while at a Starbucks store. When prompted, take a photo to get the frame fitted around it. Not all outlets have the same frames available, so try a few and see which ones you get!
Fans of Starbucks collectibles will be happy to note that they are offering not one, but TWO different sakura themes for its goods.
Harmony features brighter sakura and spring flower motifs, and is available from 15 February 2017.
On the other hand, the Purity line-up uses subtler colours and is geared towards those who prefer a more otona (大人, adult) feel. This range is available from 1 March 2017.
And for those of you headed to Tokyo this spring, we’ve got a huge insider tip for you!
Instead of squeezing with the hanami crowds at the famous Ueno Park, why not grab a seat at the Starbucks outlet found within instead?
An outdoor seat gives you a great panorama of the flowering cherry trees surrounding the shop, and you can sip on your SAKURA Blossom Cream Frappucino while enjoying the breeze. For those who prefer indoor seating, fret not as the tall ceiling-to-floor glass windows also offer stunning views of blossoming trees.
So don’t say bojio, and have a sensational time this spring season!
