If you don’t know anything LiSA, she has participated in AFA Singapore for the 5 consecutive years and this year’s concert will be her first solo concert for her LiVE is Smile Always Asia Tour. She continues to enjoy further success in strengthening her popularity in both the anime and pop rock world with a string of major tie-ups with anime series; “oath sign” for the series Fate/Zero, ”crossing field” for Sword Art Online, “träumerei” for Day Break Illusion, “Rising Hope” for The irregular at Magic High School, “Shirushi” and “No More Time Machine” for Sword Art Online II .
So let’s check out her concert!
Like all Japanese concerts in Singapore, LiSA’s concert was filled with a lot of anticipation from the fans, the hall was about 75-80% filled which was really great. The concert started at 6.50pm, a slight 20 minute delay but that did not bother her fans. All the fans were waiting patiently and came fully prepared with their multi-colour light sticks.
I myself was the first time going to her concert and have listened to her songs from a few anime series but I didn’t knew she had sure an amazing fan base in Singapore, which was both really surprising and exciting to know.
Screaming out “LiSA! LiSA! LiSA!”.
In no time, LiSA came out to the stage and was welcomed with a big cheer from the audience.
She opened the concert with three fast tempo songs consecutively. As she started singing, the uproar among the fans became unstoppable. This was the moment that I really like about Japanese concert – when the singer sings, fans start waving their magical light stickers in the dark, like fireflies in the dark.
One of the opening songs was “Crossing Field”, the opening theme song for the anime Sword Art Online Season 1. Everyone immediately knew the song just by listening to the introduction of the song. For those who don’t know the song, check ⇊⇊⇊ out below!
30 minutes into the concert she went into her first ballad song of the concert ”一番の宝物 [Ichiban no Takaramono]” , a slow and touching song followed by “Little Braver” .
She also showed off her skill as a guitarist in front of all her fans. The ladies beside me were as shocked as I was. LiSA is truly talented.
Having a short break inbetween, she asked the audience if we like Japanese pop music. And of course we answered yes! Then she said that she was going to sing some idol’s song and asked us to guess. Upon hearing, instantly everyone knew the songs, she did her rendition on AKB48’s melodies like “heavy rotation”, “flying get” and “Koi suru fortune cookie” with a hint of her rock style. That definitely got her more plus points from the guys fan including myself as it felt really cute.
She continued with “Rally Go Round”, “Confidence driver”, “ROCK-mode” and next she sang one of her most, most, most important and famous anime songs, “Rising Hope” which was the opening theme song for the anime 魔法科高校の劣等生 Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei. This song really brought the crowd to the max. Check out the song if you still don’t know what I’m talking about 🙂
Her next song “エレクトリリカル [Elect Lyrical]”, was a dance hit that she taught everyone in the audience with simple steps in one shot, practising firstly in a slow, then sexy and lastly with a fast beat version that lead in to the main song. How’s does the dance looks like? You can look it this ⇊⇊⇊
Everyone had a lot of fun with the choreography.
Next, was “シルシ [Shirushi]”, the third ending song of Sword Online Season 2, one of the more popular anime in recent years and was greeted with blue-lid light sticks from the fans at the theatre. A slow ballad that really features LiSA’s unique vocal range.
Ending with her last song with “BRiGHT FLiGHT”, LiSA left the stage, leaving the fans screaming “ENCORE! ENCORE!”
Here’s a very interesting trend that is happening in Singapore that I noticed. Well, everyone knows that there will definitely be a encore so for the norm, everyone will start screaming ANKORU- (encore in Japanese) till the artist come back to stage. But the fans from the V.I.P seats took a interesting direction. They “shhhhhh”-ed the whole audience to keep them in silence, then, they started singing or humming “LA…. LALALA LA….” from a song from LiSA (I believe it was“いすかの手紙 [Itsuka no Tegami]” )and suddenly faint off, that brought everyone to an awkward silents, then continued with it. For the rest of the audience it was really weird but interesting to see.
Soon LiSA came out from the back stage and started singing along with her fans. She was really surprised that her fans knew this song and was really touched by them as this song wasn’t on of her hit numbers, a ballad that is in her Launcher Album. She gave a very short speech saying although this is her fifth time coming to Singapore, it was her first solo concert here and added that Singapore was her second home.
She then she sang “Home” by Kit chan, which really took all her fan by a big surprise and her fans replied with a big “WAH~”, then sang along with her. Probably someone told her that Singapore’s national day is coming soon.
Now for her next encore song “いすかの手紙 [Itsuka no Tegami]” was one of her coupling song from her 2nd single [Crossing Field] that was released in August 2012 , singing together with all her fans and ended this awesome concert. This is her final stop in her Asia tour and she said she was really happy that she could end it with Singapore.
Lastly, she took a photo with all her fans as a commemoration for the end of her Asia tour. I thought she was so happy high in spirit that she added a sudden last minute encore song “Crow Song” to end the show. Woooohoooo! A great service to all her audience.
The world concert ended successfully at around 9pm.
LiSA with her infectious personality, made an energetic & impressive live performances of hardcore rock band style with her high stamina and high singing endurance to her Singapore fans. It definitely made me want to cheer for her more.
She is a powerhouse you won’t wanna miss in the ANISONG and JPOP industry. So watch her out and looking forward to her next concert in Singapore.
LiSA will be releasing her newest single [Empty Mermaid] on Sept 30, so be sure to look out the Music Video on YOUTUBE.
