Discover a uniquely Japanese feel at Patch Magic
In 1988, founder Akiko Silva decided to re-purpose old kimono fabrics that were too beautiful and unique pieces of art to dispose of into new lovely pieces of clothing and soft furnishing. This is the story of how Patch Magic was born.
Today, Patch Magic is a charming and inviting boutique where the time stands still. Located at Palais Renaissance #03-05, they specialise in Japanese apparel with modern touches. Being a strong advocate for the time-honoured practices of Japanese fine art and craftsmanship, Patch Magic’s popular silk and vintage material products are hand-dyed using the centuries-old Katazome technique of stencil dyeing and Ikat that have been passed down generations of Japanese craftsmen. From its initial design and conceptualisation, to the highly precise technique of hand-dyeing intricate details onto fabrics, this arduous process requires master craftsmen of their own special field to work together to create beautiful fabrics which can then be crafted into other objects.
Over the years Patch Magic brought new Japanese designers who are reviving the traditional techniques with contemporary touches and colours. It is a joy to discover these new generation’s creations and carry their brands at Patch Magic in Singapore.
The Japanese tradition continues at Patch Magic.
